Please see below announcement from SAIHF regarding the U20 National Team to take part in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in January 2022 in Mexico. WP Players Attend SA Federation Cup

This October saw the top candicates in Cape Town join the rest of the coutries elite Women, U18, U20 and Senior players to compete in the first Federation Cup. The select players were drafted into two training / competitive teams who then took to the ice in a series of head to head games as well as individual team training sessions. The competition span the duration of 2 weeks and was a huge success with a very high level of play from all divisions and a step in the right direction for the selection of the upcoming national teams for 2022.

WP Ice Hockey Helps With Sports Council Food Drive

The Sports Council approached all the sporting codes in Western Province to assist in collecting 100 food parcels for those in need. Western Province Ice Hockey reached their target of 100 food parcels to assist the Sports Council with their food drive. The parcels were delivered on Saturday the 18th of July as part of the Nelson Mandela’s 67 minutes and they distributed it to those that need it. A huge thank you to everyone that assisted in this campaign.

GrandWest's The Ice Station Opens to the Public

Awesome news that the Ice Station has reopened it's door and the public are allowed to enjoy public skating sessions once again, after a 3 months Covid-19 Lockdown. We have seen many of our ice hockey players hit the ice again and are getting their legs ready for when ice hockey gets the go ahead to commence. Check out the Ice Rinks website via www.icerink.co.za with regards to session time, social distancing, safety protocol and also an online form that is to be completed before skating.

Hockey Local & Abroad on Lockdown due to Covid19

All across the world, hockey has come to a standstill due to the Covid19 Virus, and nothing is different in Cape Town. We have taken a break and will be postponing all hockey gathers, practices and games while this virus is active in the community.
Please note that we will be sending out weekly training programs to keep all players fit, active and ready for when things go return to normal.

It is time to dust off your skates and hit the ice for the 2020 WPIHA Seaon. Pre-season training starts Sunday 19th January at 08:30am with registration from 08:00am.

IIHF Official Appointments

We would like to congratulate our on ice official for their 2020 IIHF appointments in the upcoming World Championships. Well done to Jonathan Burger (left) for his appointment as referee at the Mens World Championships Div III A in Luxembourg and Morne Henry Moses (right) for his appointment as linesman at the Mens World Championships Div III B in Cape Town.
Outstanding both of you and keep up the great work!

Cape Town KINGS Reign Supreme

The Cape Town KINGS ice hockey team was nominated the Western Cape Sports Awards as one of the top three sporting teams for 2019.
The event took place at the Old Mutual Conference Center in Pinelands with Steven Johnson (team manager) and Marc Giot (player/captain/coach) on stage as the winner was announced. Congratulations to the KINGS Team for an outstanding achievement winning all their games in the South African Super League Championships.
